Of the 83 countries, territories and regions with clearly more favourable tax regimes, the so-called “tax havens” have been withdrawn Uruguay, Isle of Man and Jersey, all members of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes. After examination by the OECD, Jersey and Uruguay were considered “largely compliant” and the Isle of Man “compliant”. It is also recalled that in 2010 Jersey and the Isle of Man signed an Agreement on Exchange of Information on Tax Matters with Portugal and in relation to Uruguay a Convention to avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion is in place.
